Elisante's PhD project focuses on the plant-pollinator interactions in bean fields around the Moshi and Himo area on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro. In particular, he aims to understand how the diversity of pollinators is affected by the plant diversity in and around bean fields, as relates to field margin management, and what the implications of this are for bean pollination and yield. He is also involved in surveying farmers in the region to better understand their awareness of beneficial insect groups.
